SPIEF-2019: the Moscow Region authorities and Domodedovo airport signed an agreement on the construction of a year-round resort
June 6, 2019, St. Petersburg. Within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, at the stand of the Moscow Region, an agreement was solemnly signed on the implementation of the project of a multifunctional year-round resort named «Tropical Island». The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov, the Director of Moscow Domodedovo Airport Igor Borisov and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the investment and construction company Sky Capital JSC Andrey Kareev.

The resort is expected to host 4.5 million visitors annually. The total investment volume for the project amounts to 35 billion rubles. The initiative will create more than 1,000 jobs.
«Thanks to the support of the Moscow Region authorities, we can fulfill Moscow Aerotropolis potential to the full extent. Domodedovo airport is transforming into an area of economic influence for ambitious development initiatives in retail, tourism and hospitality. These industries get additional incentives for accelerated growth due to the proximity of the air hub and a comfortable business environment,» claimed Igor Borisov, Moscow Domodedovo Airport Director.

The total construction area will be 50 hectares. The «Tropical Island» will serve as a center of the hotel and recreational cluster of Moscow Aerotropolis. The park will feature a well thought-out and convenient infrastructure for entertainment including a tropical forest, beaches, a cinema, a planetarium, a fitness center and an ice rink.

The investor is Sky Capital JSC. The total investment is 35 billion rubles. The implementation period is 6 years. The initiative will create over 1,000 additional jobs. The park is planned to host 4.5 million people annually. PJSC Sberbank, PwC and Kosmick Company have also encouraged the project.

Domodedovo airport has been actively developing the Moscow Aerotropolis project – a new urban formation based on the commercial development of land around the airport. Within a 20-km radius of the air hub, a new urban development formation will appear, the objects will be divided into clusters according to areas of activity: trade, hotel and recreational, business park, expo, industrial and agricultural. The cluster concept of Aerotropolis was developed taking into account the successful world experience in the development of airport environs.
